One of only 851 female board-certified plastic surgeons out of 8,100 total (as of 2012), and one of only 180 women belonging to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, Dr. Jennifer Walden is unique in her field. This is particularly apparent in Texas, where she is one of only 12 female cosmetic plastic surgeons practicing.Walden works where she grew up, in Austin, Texas. She graduated as class salutatorian from the Medical Branch of the University of Texas at Galveston. She went on to complete a fellowship in aesthetic surgery at the Manhattan Eye, Ear, Nose and Throat Hospital. Following that, she launched her own private practice in New York City, and then in 2011 she moved back to her hometown and brought her practice with her.
In her practice, Jennifer L. Walden, MD, PLLC & Walden Cosmetic Surgery And Laser Center, Dr. Walden focuses specifically on cosmetic surgery. She specializes in procedures like rhinoplasty (or “nose jobs”), facelifts, eyelid-lifts and breast augmentation. In addition she performs liposuction on the arms, inner thighs and abdomen. Occasionally she also performs more invasive surgeries like Botox injections and soft-tissue filler injections. Based on her extensive experience in this area, Dr. Walden coauthored the book Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.
Dr. Walden is well-reputed for her nonjudgmental approach to her patients and her empathetic nature. The mother of twin boys, now young men in their early twenties, she experienced many of the physical changes the predominantly female clientele in the aesthetic surgery industry come to her for help with. In a field laden with the stigmas of misogyny and objectification of women, Dr. Walden counters the stigmas and supports her patients with help from an educational background that included women’s studies and psychology. Dr. Jennifer Walden has then brought together a team of qualified aestheticians and laser specialists to enable her to provide even more cosmetic services to her patients under one roof.
