The “Internet of Things” has become a hot phrase over the past several years. However, many people are not sure what it means or how it will affect their future. Futurist expert Jason Hope’s new ebook Understanding the Internet-of-Things Revolution: A quick guide for thriving in the IoT era breaks down how smart technology will help us through everyday interactions with everyday objects.
In his new ebook, Jason Hope refers to the Internet of Things as a revolution, meaning that the omnipresence of wired appliances and objects will transform everyday lives for billions of people. Citing Moore’s Law, Jason sees interconnected objects becoming cheaper, more powerful and more abundant across the landscape.
The internet of things will function by exchanging information with each other as well as services that can help expedite everything from shopping to entertainment to home maintenance. Some other industries that Mr. Hope sees disrupted by the Internet of Things include the energy sector, manufacturing, oil & transport as well as the medical field.
Finally, Jason Hope sees the Internet of Things everywhere from residential homes to manufacturing facilities, office buildings, hospitals and even oil refineries. These smart devices will become more efficient at handling low-level tasks allowing people to work on higher level jobs and assignments.
Educated with a degree in finance from the University of Arizona and an MBA from the college’s W.P. Carey School of Business, Jason Hope has spent a career working in various areas from mobile communications to biotechnology and start-up investing. As a futurist, Mr. Hope spends his time writing how technology will impact society in the coming years. In addition to his work as a futurist, Jason Hope is also active in philanthropy, working with various Arizona based charities and foundations to improve the lives of those in his community.
As technology continues to immerse itself in everyday objects, Jason Hope will continue to analyze and write about the Internet of Things and how this phenomenon will impact society’s future.
