Perry Mandera – An Attitude of Service

The stories of people who are impacting the lives of others can usually be traced back to its beginnings. And it’s no different with Perry Mandera.

After graduating from a high school in the Chicago area, Perry enlisted in the United States Marine Corps Reserves. He was honorably discharged after four years of service. Perry started his first transportation company in 1980. While building that company he was also a public servant. At only 23 years old he worked on a committee for the Chicago Republican Party. Perry sold his first company in 1985.

Making an Economic Difference

Continuing on his path in the transportation industry, Perry started his current company, The Custom Companies in 1986. Perry Mandera’s company has sales of over $200 million dollars and employs more than 300 people.

Helping Communities Heal and Thrive

Perry started Custom Cares Charities, which is dedicated to the transportation industry.

He also donated his company trucks, using them to drive 40 truckloads of food and supplies to the victims of Hurricane Katrina in Mississippi and Louisiana. Some of the items were donated and Perry purchased other articles himself. He and his company also donated transportation services to assist in the relief efforts of the recent fires in California.

Perry Mandera’s generosity also impacts his community and state. After the 2013 tornado in Washington, IL, The Custom Companies donated transportation services to assist the affected individuals and businesses. Perry is a member of the Jesse White Tumblers as well as the Walter and Connie Payton Foundation and donates to both organizations.

He has donated tens of thousands of dollars to Chicago residents during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. But, Perry Mandera wants to make a difference throughout the year.

In an act of extraordinary generosity and compassion, Perry purchased 6500 winter coats which were distributed to the needy children of Chicago. His continued dedication to the young people of Chicago extends to sponsoring more than one hundred youth sports teams and lending financial support to benefit children and young adults in the area.

Perry Mandera is committed to making a difference throughout the year, wherever there’s a need.
